Re-purposing Restaurant Food
“In times of crisis business has an extraordinary ability to transform and adapt.”
John Vincent - Founder Leon
With an interview with Sky News, founder of Leon, John Vincent gave an impassioned plea for public support to get on boards and help to feed the NHS. Here is a summary of how John is trying to re purpose food from restaurants:
Leon is reinventing shops to act as mini supermarkets that can deliver food through a new online platform.
His current aims are too:
1 - Turn our restaurants into shops
2 - Fill the empty gondola ends at Sainsbury’s
3 - Start an Ocado for the food industry
“In hurricane Katrina Walmart did a better job than the government because small to medium businesses were more nimble to call upon different resources”
Leon is trying to quickly re-purpose the food that could be wasted
“Stuff that is literally about to go off we are giveing away to charities and hospitals. Repurpose the huge waste that is going on right now”
Leon are giving a 50% discount to NHS staff and asks other business’ in need to get in touch
“Hospitals who are struggling need to get in touch.
If you are a company that hasn’t got any demand please contact us.
We need those with capabilities in logistics, e-commerce, warehousing or cab drivers that can get this food to peoples houses.”
